“Do you not say, ‘There are yet four months, and then comes the harvest’? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look on the fields, that they are white for harvest. Already he who reaps is receiving wages and is gathering fruit for life eternal; so that he who sows and he who reaps may rejoice together. For in this case the saying is true, ‘One sows and another reaps.’ I sent you to reap that for which you have not labored; others have labored and you have entered into their labor.” – John 4:35
We are into our 5th monthly service before we launch our weekly services come February 2016. Technically, this is our relaunch. My wife and I instituted weekly services in January of 2015, but after a few months of going at it alone, we realized we should probably scale back and seek out partners that will do ministry with us. Our monthly services have been a blessing, and we are so glad we decided to switch our strategy! There are new faces that show up every month, and we have been able to spend the rest of our weeks sitting down and getting to know our community. We have sat with several people sharing our vision to reach the unchurched, unconnected or spiritual seekers in our city. A few have come and gone along the way. This has taught us a lot about our values, relationships and our identity as a ministry.
We still need your involvement! There are several ways that you can help us in our efforts to reach Elgin for Jesus. The first thing we need are prayers. When you are involved in missions, you are on the front lines of a warfare you would not believe. We feel the pressures of ministry every day and our concern for the church and our city grows weekly. Please pray for us and the receptivity to those around us to the Gospel. We also need generous financial givers. When God speaks a vision to build, he also speaks to people who will finance the vision. We are seeking to raise $50,000 to help us provide outreach events, rent our space and purchase the equipment we need to give us a good launch. If you or someone you know might feel led to give, you can check out our GoFundMe page here to see more details.
Most crucial to our success is the development of a launch team. A launch team, in our mind, is essentially an evangelistic team who are selected, trained and serve alongside the church planter for a season of time to help get the church off the ground. Outreach, witnessing and discipleship is key in the birthing stage of a new mission here in Elgin. We are seeking people who are faithful, available and teachable to partner with us to make this dream a reality.
If you are seeking to use your gifts, or wanting to find out what your purpose is I would appreciate the opportunity to talk with you over coffee to share our vision for raising up leaders and reaching the harvest. Please contact me at email@example.com if something is stirring in you. Lets partner together to see revival come to Elgin. One family at a time!
