Our newly forming church is now meeting on the 2nd and 4th Thursday night at the Elgin Centre in downtown Elgin. Meetings are scheduled throughout the summer and on a ongoing basis at 7 p.m. and will go until 8:30 or 9. “We are a new church that is forming in Elgin to help people in two ways. The first way is to grow spiritually in their connection to God. The second way is to grow relationally with their friends, family and each other.” says Rusty Wimberly, the Pastor of Elgin City Church. ECC was founded out of a need for a church that is focused on reaching out and meeting the needs of the community. They have a long term vision to build bridges with the citizens of Elgin and develop “city groups” throughout the Elgin area. “The church has always had a presence in the Elgin community and plays a vibrant role in our city’s culture. We hope that our presence strengthens the ministry of other churches in our area as we seek to call all people to the Gospel.”
People who come on Thursday nights should expect to worship to some great music and hear an encouraging and practical message from the Bible. ECC will also incorporate a ministry time for the children with a balloon twister and Bible story time. Everyone is welcome and everyone is included no matter where they are on their spiritual journey.
We realize that going to a church meeting for the first time might be scary, but there is no reason to feel awkward or intimidated. Please feel free to join us and give us a try to see if this might be a place where God is calling you to make your church home. Any questions, please contact the church office at 630-318-6057.
