Its that time of year! Bonfires, s’mores, apple cider and trick or treat! Time to get your sweaters out and get ready for the holiday season. The fall season is my favorite time of year and we put together a list of fall family fun events to do in and around the Elgin area. Even though the focus of the season tends to center around dark characters, we support anything in Elgin that is family friendly and a good time for all. There are many events going on in Elgin, but here are the top 5 places we think you need to hit up with your family this fall season:
Friday, October 16
Halloween Science Night
6-8 PM; Nonmembers: $2, Members Free!
Calling all ghouls, goblins and ghosts! Come visit the museum for some scientific Halloween fun. Learn the science behind black lights, spider-webs, and the main ingredient in witch’s brew; dry ice! Adults and kids can experience demonstrations, partake in discussions and create their own creepy crafts. This is a drop-in program, no registration necessary.

The annual Pumpkin Patch & Fall Festival will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. at County Park. Everyone will have fun picking out pumpkins which are available for purchase ($1 – mini, $2, $3 and $5 depending on size). Other activities that will be included are hay rides, petting zoo (minimal charge for feed), pyramid of hay, “touch a truck”, trolley ride (with the purchase of any pumpkin) and pony rides that are available for $2 (profits donated to the FUNdation).
